Today’s guest column is by Ellen Hiep of HiePRactief. Their team is in charge of a field study trip to the USA. The objective of the full week study tour is to investigate the state-of-the-art in electric mobility. She gives us a preview of what participants on this educational trip to Silicon Vally can expect. What happens in California in the field of Electric Mobility? Want to know more about the visions of the big stakeholders in ‘The Valley’? During this study trip we will meet American entrepreneurs, consumers, scientists and policymakers and explore the possibilities of electric and hybrid transportation.
The Dutch State Secretary for Infrastructure and the Environment will join us when we’ll visit Tesla Motors and learn more about CEO Elon Musks ideas on the future. We will also undertake a trip to California’s finest universities (UC DAVIS and UCLA) to hear about their research results on sustainable mobility. Furthermore we’ve arranged a meeting with the City Council of Los Angeles to discuss their role in making Electric Mobility possible.
And last but not least we’ll pay a visit to one of the best kept secrets in Silicon Valley, Santa Cruz. Which has the highest density of electric vehicles: we’ll see and discover firsthand the immense popularity of the Tesla Supercharger.
This study trip is organized by HiePRactief in cooperation with the Coast to Coast E-Mobility Connection, located within the Netherlands Consulate General in San Francisco. This is a public-private partnership, that aims to promote knowledge and innovation exchange between Dutch and US governments, universities and companies; in order to strengthen bilateral relations between decision-makers; and to help position private organizations in relevant e-mobility markets.
